If you have equity fund investments, expect your Mutual Fund manager to focus more on BPPIH allocating the investments. If you are reading and analyzing monthly portfolio analysis, performance and fund sheets of your investments, you are already familiar with this right now.

Below is an example of portfolio analysis allocating investments in a Mutual Fund. Of course using BPPIH will be different.

Equities and stock prices are lower this month so it’s really wise to buy more stocks and take advantage of this opportunity.

    • ALI is a nice choice of blue chip stock. It has a good source of recurring income. The company is stable and has a good balance sheet. It’s good for long term of 5 years or more as it will build generous profit in the long run. Do PCA method and keep it for several years. God bless!

      • Hi, I have come across several listings of highly recommended stocks for long-term investment. But just like your own list, it does not include SMC even if it qualifies as a blue-chip stock based on your definition in https://dailypik.com/best-blue-chip-stocks-in-the-philippines/ (quoted below). Why is that?

“Blue-chip stocks are stocks from large corporations or well-established companies that have operated for many years already. These companies are well-known, well-established and well-recognized as “Giants” because they usually come profitable and stable in spite of economic challenges thus making them not too volatile.”

Nevertheless, I have SMC stocks and I see that their price is appreciating. In fact, it’s the stock that’s giving me gains to date. Would you advise me to continue buying SMC stocks?

I’m happy to note though that you have in your list the three banks I have investments in.☺

  25. Good day Fehl;

This reply of yours just caught my attention as mentioned above,
“However, you must stop buying on the margin and sell it on the Target Price. If you have no margin and target price, you might lose money.”

What do you mean by margin? I mean can you provide a sample figure?

I’d like also to know if it is really NECESSARY to have a land-line number when opening an account with COL Financials or other registered online brokers.

It would be grateful to receive your response.

    Thank you. 🙂

      • And so my intuition was right about that “margin”. Talking about the contact number, i saw through the online application that the phone number box is labeled with (*) asterisk w/c means that they are requiring it but I’ll try registering providing my cp number alone….

  26. Hi Fehl, plan ko po mag long term investment. pano po ba ang procedure? buy lang ako stocks tapos sell ko after mga 10-20years? ganun po ba? di po mawawala ung stocks na mga binili ko tama po ba?

    Reply
    • Hi Reynan. Stocks investment has risks. Yes, you can do long term. It’s one of the ways to minimize risks. The other way is diversification. Spread out your funds in buying stocks slowly over a period of time. In that 10 year long term plan, you can sell your other stocks and use your profit buying other stocks. It’s like letting your money roll as it grows.

        • EIP is especially to those who don’t have time to buy stocks regularly because EIP can be automatic depending on the schedules you created. It’s great too if you buy manually when prices are low. We post our stocks picks at dailypik.com.

          • Hi. If you don’t want to open account at COL’s office, you can do so. Just download the forms required from COL’s website and fill them out with your details, prepare photocopy of your government issued ID and your recent credit card statement then mail (LBC, Air21) them on COL’s address found on their site as well. It usually takes a day when they arrive there. COL will email you then for your account opening confirmation and details how to proceed in funding and activating your account.

  27. Hi Ms. Fehl,

I know that the best time to invest is yesterday and the 2nd best day is today. Im about to buy my first stock but these days are the peak in years of PSEi. should I wait a couple more weeks and wait for it to go down a bit?

    Reply
    • Hi, stocks are going up these days but it’s still great time to buy as long as the stocks don’t exceed their fair value margin or what we call Buy-Below-Price. We give the BBP at DailyPik.com. Stocks usually go down at the middle of the year coz of typhoons or any month when there is a global market crash

Learned so much about your blogs! Tahnk you for that. I would like to ask about the 52 week high/low range, how can it help in choosing stocks to buy? and how can i determine if i’m already on a margin wherein i can already sell my shares? thanks!

    Reply
    • the 52 week high/low is usually a factor to determine if the price you’re buying is cheap right now. It is the highest and lowest price of the stocks in the last 52 weeks. Many traders buy when the momentum kicks in or when the price of a stock exceeds the 52 week high coz they’re speculating it will go even higher. On the other hand, some people buy when it reaches the 52-wk low coz they anticipate it will go up higher again. This is just a little strategy, we must still use fundamental and technical analysis to choose the worthy stock to buy.

    Reply
    • Stocks may be considered as paper assets. I think real properties like lands and vehicles are stronger ties than paper assets because the latter can be disposed easily. But they could help your visa application the way bank accounts do 🙂 If you’re married or have kids, that could be the strongest ties if your family are based here in the Philippines
