How to Open UITF Account Online in PNB

Great news everyone! Now we can open UITF account online without going to the bank personally. PNB is the first bank in the Philippines to allow this convenient way of UITF eBanking.

In the past, investors were strictly required to appear in person to open UITF account, sign stuff, have assessment and so on. But now, everything is done online. Are you excited? Read this post because I’m sharing here how to open PNB UITF account online.

Many readers of Philpad asked about the possibility of UITF account opening online especially OFWs. I think this is the moment they’ve been waiting for. I’d like to give my kudos and cheers to PNB for making this online service possible. Geez if I could launch fireworks for that job well done, I would too 🙂

Apparently, other banks like BDO, BPI, Metrobank and others are into developing their UITF application online features too. I know BPI’s online banking system has been so convenient but they were not so vocal about their UITF online application feature yet.

With BDO, you can link and sync and enrol your existing UITF account online but you cannot yet open one online. I’m so glad PNB launched this feature because time is money.

Why I Choose PNB UITF?

I’ve been a fan of Trust Funds ever since and as an investor, I also want to diversify my portfolio and money. Earlier last year, Lucio Tan’s Allied Bank has acquired PNB and few months after that PNB launched their online UITF facility.

Looking at their funds’ performance and fact sheets, I decided to invest with them. I’m also impressed with their High Dividend Equity Fund which is new in their line of investment products. I know I have to join the wagon so I’m starting with their Prime Peso Money Market Fund and High Dividend UITF Equity Fund.

How to Open UITF Account Online in PNB?

open pnb uitf account online
  1. First you need to have a PNB Online Banking Personal account (aka eBanking). Sign up for one. This means, you must have an existing account with PNB. Doesn’t matter if it’s Savings account or Current Account, or ATM account or non-ATM account.
  2. Sign in to your PNB eBanking Personal account.
  3. On the left side of the page, select “UITF Investments” menu then click “Enroll Now
  4. Read the UITF Online Service Agreement and make sure you understand it fully before selecting Agree.
  5. Answer the UITF Client Suitability Assessment. No worries, there is no right or wrong answer. Be honest with your answers to know what type of investor you are and how much you can take risk.
  6. Go on and read everything until you agree with the Client’s Conforme.
  7. Read and understand the Risk Disclosure Statement and tick the box if you read it already. Then select Agree.
  8. Your Nomination of Settlement Account page will be displayed. Choose which PNB account you wish to enroll then click Submit.
  9. Then you will receive an Acknowledgement message like this one below. Wait for an email from PNB confirming your UITF account approval.
  10. Wait for the approval email message from PNB regarding your UITF application. After that, you can Make a Direct Investment.
  11. Make a Direct Investment and choose the UITF type you want to open. Provide the amount you wish to invest.
  12. Confirm your investment by following the next procedures. PNB will email you once your COP (Confirmation of Participation) is ready. You can then view your Investment Portfolio online anytime to see your earnings.

  2. Hi maam fel,

It is through your blog that i have started to invest in uitf… however, since i am finding it hard to redeem thru other banks because i cant reddem online, i wanted to try it with pnb. Much to my dismay, when i click on the balance inquiry option of my online acct in pnb , it says no records found… further, when i enroll another acct and use my atm number, the prompt went something like the account number length is too short

  7. hi fehl, i just enroll to PNB UITF.. ask ko lang, kailangan ba ma-reach ko din yong 10k for the minimum additional participation monthly? or i can add any amount. thanks.

  8. Hello Ms.Fehl, I’m not sure if pwede pa ba magtanong 3mos ago ang last post eh. Anyway question ko po, meaning ba ng ‘minimum additional participation’ amount yun na need ko i.invest after nag enrol sa uitf? Then may deadline po ba para i.meet yun na amount or as long as hindi pa ngmature yung account? Yung AIP po ba para lng ma.meet yung threshold na 10k or pwede rin ba pra sa additional fund pag nag roll na to uitf yung account ko? Tapos kung pwde yung aip for additional, kailangan na po ba ifollow yun all throughout or pwede ba baguhin ang assigned amount? Then pwede po ba mag additional kahit hindi aip, say manual deposit? And kailangan ba monthly ang additional or kung kailan ko lang preferred? Thanks in advance sa reply. 🙂

    Reply
    • Min. Additional Participation is the min. you can add to your initial investment. If 10 ang threshold, you’ll have COP every 10K. You can set amount for additional or assigned new. It’s up to you. 🙂

    • Hi! In any investment, there are always risks involved. Yes, there is a chance you would lose some money but I don’t want to say you will lose everything since that is almost unlikely to happen. And if you see some loses today, don’t panic. It always happen. Let it pass and you will surely see gains and profit when you reach your target period. 500K if invested on equity fund UITF like PNB and BDO for 5 years or so would surely gain than lose. Their Fund Managers are very excellent.

  15. Hi Fehl! For the past 3 weeks I’ve been reading so much about every banks investment offerings. I’m a single mom of a 5 year old boy and was thingking of investing for his future. I am already 40 that is why , though very much eager to start investing, there is some feelings of fear which bank to choose and trust! I have an account in pnb and I found out ( thru reading), that their high dividend fund is doing good! Also in order for me to start investing to this Uitf, I have to enroll in their ebanking. What I want to know is how safe is this online banking and how sure am I that whenever I experienced some problems/technicalities, pnb can help me? or am I still will go to their branch?

    Reply
    • Hi Doreen! Let me congrats you in putting up investments for your little boy. I admire you for that. It’s normal to have doubts especially if you’re a beginner in investing. But you must not be afraid if you’re investing with the big banks in the Philippines. PNB has been in the banking business for many decades now. Geez, they just celebrated their 98th anniversary this year. It became much bigger and stronger since Lucio Tan’s Allied Bank merged with it. I would eat my hat if it wouldn’t be in the business for another 100 years 🙂

Online banking of the major banks here are very safe because they use TSL and SSL certificates, thus everything is secured. As a user you are required to log in using OTP too which only you alone knows. A very good sign you are on a secured banking portal is when a site is using https instead of http. Yes, PNB can help you if you are having techy problems with your banking transactions. You can contact them anytime.

I know safety is very important. Because I myself transact online most of the time nowadays, I bought Norton 360 and installed it in my computer too for pure computer protection not only in my bank logins but also for all my online accounts like Facebook, Gmail etc. It helps bigtime. I renew it every year. You can also use same product used and trusted by big companies. It can be bought in this link: http://buy.norton.com/en-ph/ Choose Norton 360, it is a complete computer and internet protection. I’ve been using it for 3 years now. If we’re neighbors, I’d help you install it for you.

    • They are both equity funds. PNB High Dividend Fund is invested on PSE companies that always produce dividends while Phil-index Reference Fund from the account name itself, it is invested on specific PSE index funds that PNB selected or referred to diversify portfolio and minimize losses/risks.

Either gain or Loss ka at the time of redemption sa kabuuan ba ito?Lets say ang inenvest mo ay total 100k pesos after 3 years. Kung kumita ng 20,000 pesos ay ———- pero kung loss ka naman ng 20k sa inenvest mo ng 100k ay ______

      2. Ang global peso money market ba na conservative sa PNB para sa conservative na kagaya ko for long term ay pwede rin mag open ng ibang fund na conservative din like PNB plus intermediate term bond fund?
      3. Ang equity fund na aggressive ba pwede sa OFW? Kung ang minimum nito ay 10k at dumating na ang value ng fund mo ay less than 10k dahil bumaba ang NAVPU , may penalty ba?

      • 1. Recurring date if you choose 15th and 30th auto debit na to your source account. Pwede nman yung future dated pwede din yung actual na kung gusto mo.

        2. PNB Plus Intermediate Fund is for moderate type of investor, it’s not Money Market because it’s a Bond Fund.

        3. OFW can invest to Equity Fund kc konti lang Special Deposit Account nun, so kung nag AIP ka to have Equity amounting to 10k, regardless kung ano NAVPY bsta umabot 10k money mo auto invest na un, dun plang mgrurun ung first day mo,

    • Hi Neil 🙂 Thank you for the compliments. Money Market Funds are for conservative investors. Their earnings are higher than savings accounts and time deposits. Personally, I prefer Equity Funds coz they give the highest earnings although they are so risky. But if you want to put 10K and 2k monthly continuously let’s say in 10 years, that would be around 250,000 and estimated growth would be 300,000 or more assuming market is doing good. Of course that is just an estimate, you can earn higher than that if you put higher like 5K monthly or even 10K.

I have 2 bank accounts in the Philippines, I have BDO and PNB. I want to open up an UITF account at PNB since it is an online application because I can’t do it personally coz I am here at the UAE. I am interested about PNB Global Filipino Peso Money Market Fund – P5,000. The thing is I don’t know if my account is still active coz I haven’t send money in my savings account for 2 years now or more. How would I know my account was still active? If my account is active can I invest for 50k in the beginning? Then 5k every month, my target goal is 2 or 3 years. Hope u can help me invest my hard earned money. I am looking forward for your reply. Thanks,

    • Hi Maricel! Yes PNB has online UITF account opening and since you already have PNB account, you need to register for Online Banking account so you can start opening your UITF. You can monitor and view your accounts then online too. If you’re not sure if your account is active right now, I suggest wait before you create an Online Banking account. I’m not sure if 2 years would make an account inactive. Since I have friends in PNB head office, I can ask about the 2 years thing. I will comment again here once they replied.

    • I already asked PNB about your 2-year inactive account. They say it may be dormant now. If you want to activate it again, just email PNB or call the branch where your account is

    • Investments have risks so it is important you get to know UITFs first before you decide. The answer is always based from the person investing either newbie or not. You must know if you’re conservative or aggressive, financially stable, how much money you want to invest, where it is coming from, and you must know your goal. I can give my advice then 🙂

Regarding the COP, you can print it out. I suggest you do. Hey, do not worry about security, UITFs are being approved and regulated by the BSP. 🙂 If you’re worried about your online banking, banks use secured website so there is nothing to worry about. Also I suggest you use Norton 360 to protect everything you do online.

  36. Hello ms. Marifel! Thanks

    • Col Financial is an online trading account. If you’re asking about withdrawing from the funds you placed there, yes of course it would affect your earnings in COL. It’s simple Math. I=PRT They need each other in finding each other.

    • We cannot earn dividends from UITFs unlike stocks and Mutual Funds. Yes, Money Market Funds are not very risky and can give higher earnings than Time Deposits.

Equity Funds are the most risky UITFs and Mutual Funds. But they have higher earning potentials. The minimum for BDO Equity Fund is 10K. If you will invest through EIP, yes you can invest 1k periodically and once your fund reached 10K, it will roll as UITF. You wont feel so much income though with 1K. You’ll feel the funds growing if you’d invest 5K periodically and maintain your funds for 3 years or more. If you have more questions about BDO, please post them in our BDO post 🙂 Thank you! I’m always glad to see you here.

    • From what I read, PNB Dream Intermediate Term Bond has insurance benefits and suited for clients who would like to invest monthly over a period of at least one year, can tolerate moderate risk, and are determined to save up for medium- to long-term future requirements.

The bank will only debit the amount you have provided and stated in the application of UITF. See the screenshots in the article. You will see the placement of funds in your Online Account Dashboard including all your accounts in PNB. You’re always welcome!

    • PNB Global Filipino Peso Money Market Fund is purely for OFWs only. The fund is for conservative investors so it’s not so risky yet earnings are not so high either. See the performance of the funds in this page so you can decide well. IF you want to ask more questions, don’t hesitate.

    • If you want to invest specific amount every month for UITF in PNB, you can do so. They have a product called AIP (Auto Invest Plan) similar to BDO’s Easy Investment Plan (EIP). Apparently you can invest 1k every month and when your amount reached the threshold, it will roll as UITF. See threshold below:

PNB Prime Peso Money Market Fund – P10,000
PNB Global Filipino Peso Money Market Fund – P5,000
PNB DREAM Builder Intermediate Term Bond Fund – P2,000
PNB DREAM Builder Intermediate Term Bond Fund – $500
PNB Global Filipino Dollar Money Market Fund – $100

You can open UITF account using your PNB OFW Savings Account. Note the UITFs allowed for non-residents and OFWs. 🙂 Happy investing!

    • BDO IMA aka Investment Management Account is also an investment product that is invested to different outlets like government securities, bonds, time deposits and other funds. They are managed by experts too. The only thing special about them is that they are for big time individuals/investors with higher networthmillionaires in short. If you have 1 million or more, you can invest with them

  44. HI.. when enrolling for UITF account, should your investment money be on your account? can you enrol without the funds yet and place your investments later?

    Reply
    • The online UITF opening requires existing PNB account so yes, you need to have an account because that is where your UITF investment be debited. You cannot enroll without a fund – offline and online 🙂

  45. Hi Marifel,

Thank you for this very informative post. I’ve been following your posts since i found your website.

I have a question, do you need to have a savings account in PNB in order to open a UITF one?

    Reply
    • Hi Dominic. Thank you for subscribing here. Yes, you need an existing account in PNB like Savings Account. If you have ATM account, that will work too. ATM and non-ATM will do. I forgot to mention that in the article. Now I added it, thanks to you 🙂 I used my ATM account when I enrolled for eBanking. All you need is your Card number. Then after you logged in, enroll your UITF. It’s very quick. They already approved my UITF the next morning. Your Portfolio and income/loss of UITF will be displayed in your account Dashboard. So cool!

        • Since Time Deposit yan, redeem mo muna yung funds and convert it to savings account so you can use it for other bank products like UITF
