  • Design – modern technology 5-car Electric Multiple Units (EMUs), fully automatic, crewless operation – Grade of Automation 4 (GoA4), with Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling for moving block operations. Designed by the Spanish firm IDOM.
  • Length – 12.7km elevated railway
  • Trains – 5-car train sets with a design speed of 80 kph
  • Total Stations – 10 stations (expected)
  • Completion Date – construction is expected to start in 2026 or 2027 and be finished by 2031

MRT 4 Latest Updates and Developments

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the project is now in the preliminary engineering design stage for some sections, while in the detailed architectural and engineering design stage for other areas.

According to the DOTr, construction would start in the second quarter of 2027 and is projected to be finished by the first quarter of 2031.

Full operation of MRT-4 is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2031.
