How to get a passport in DFA Megamall and what are the requirements? Since DFA Aseana Boulevard and other DFA offices in Manila and nearby provinces are always hectic, you can also process your passport application – new and renew at DFA SM Megamall.

Passport processing here is also fast because they also have online appointment system where everyone can schedule their passport application and renewal online before going to the DFA personally. All appointments will have their own dates and time of appearance. It also makes the processing more comfortable and smooth.

In this post, I’m gonna share about the requirements you’ll need to bring at DFA at your day of appointment and the procedures of the application. We start with scheduling an appointment online because you need a valid and confirmed date before you file and process your passport.

Schedule for an Appointment Online for DFA SM Megamall

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, “confirmed appointment is required for all applicants except Senior Citizens, infants and minors below 1 year old, person with disability and OFWs. For OFWs, sufficient proof must be submitted such as a valid employment contract or OEC.”

  • Visit DFA SM Megamall website and schedule your desired date. Choose Individual Appointment Process if you’re alone otherwise choose Family Application Form.
  • Fill out the application form correctly and completely and download and print your appointment reference numbers. You’ll gonna bring them at DFA Megamall.

Getting a Passport in DFA Megamall

DFA Megamall is open from 10am to 8pm, Monday-Friday and 10am to 6pm every Saturday. It’s advisable to come early before 10am so you’ll finish early. Anyway, there won’t be big problem if you come later as long as it is really your set schedule. Check your day and time schedule on your confirmed reference form.

Make sure you bring all the application for passport requirements together with your valid IDs, primary documents like PSA birth certificate (original and photocopy). For first time applicants, the original birth certificate will be left at DFA as file copy or reference. For renewal, they only get the photocopies of IDs and requirements. If you didn’t bring photocopies, you’ll need to fall in line to the people on queue who also needs Xerox at the Passport processing section.

How to get a Passport in DFA SM Megamall

  1. First step is you go to the Attendance Section. The guard will lead you there after checking your application form and confirmed appointment. They will also check your requirements at this time. You’ll have to get your number from the queuing machine. Wait for your number to be flashed on the screen that says “currently servicing.”
  2. Second step is in Processing Section. Once your number as called, go to the counter/window and the DFA staff will check your application form, mark the important details, check your requirements (if they all tally and if they are consistent), they will also check your IDs if they are valid. Usual primary documents are PSA birth certificate, 2 valid IDs and some supporting documents if needed or if you don’t have any valid ID. It would take 2-3 minutes on this section. Once you’re Okayed, you need to sign the form and choose if you want a Rush Processing or Regular Processing.
  3. Next is your way to the Cashier to pay your chosen (regular or Rush) passport processing fee.
  4. Last step is encoding and data and biometrics capture

How much is the passport processing fee in the Philippines?

  • Regular Processing Fee P950
  • Rush Processing Fee P1200
  • Appointment on Saturdays are charged P1200
  • Additional P120 if you want your passport to be delivered

During Encoding Section and Data Capture, you have to check and double check all the details encoded for your passport personal information. Make sure they are accurate and correct or else you’ll have big problems such as applying again. You will also have your photo captured at this time and your finger prints (biometrics) scanned and signature taken. By the way, don’t wear earrings.

You’re done. Make sure you have your receipt with you before you leave DFA because you need it to claim your passport on the releasing date. The date is stamped on the receipt.

    • I suggest you get it asap close to that date you missed coz everyday, dumadagdag ang passport na nirerelease, the more you delay it, the more time they need to look for it from their high piles of passport-to-be-released section

    • If you want to follow your married surname, you must use IDs and docs that contains your married surname. You need NSO BC, NSO MC and valid IDs (beraing your married surname)

    • Yes, some DFA branches are into first-come-first-served. Try mo sa province kasi halos sa Manila require ng appointment

    • You need your parent or guardian to accompany you. You don’t need the clearance if you are traveling with your parent

    • Yes, but if lost receipt it should only be the passport owner to claim. You have to bring 1-2 valid IDs to show…

    • You have to present your old passport still and I think you can fall in line at the new applicants lane. You need NSO MC, NSO BC, valid IDs bearing your married surname

      • The first step is schedule an appointment by going to the website of DFA. If you want walk in, try at POEA or DFA Pampanga instead

    • I’m not really sure kund saan may rush kasi sa mga comments dito, may nagbayad ng rush pero hindi naman narelease agad. If you lost your passport, you need Affidavit of Loss

    • Hi, bring old passport, NSO BC and NSO MC. It might help if you provide Police Clearance or NBI Clearance bearing your new married surname

    • Hi, try nyo po. The final approval will come from DFA. Philhealth is not usually accepted. Police Clearance and NBI clearance are ok

    • Yes, they DFA announced recently that DFA Pampanga Authentication service is now accepting School Records (TOR, Diploma, Form 137, etc) w/ CHED, TESDA, or DEP-Ed Certificate of Authentication and Verification (CAV). Will post here the details this week

  30. Hi. I just had my passport renewed yesterday at mega but i lost the php1200 receipt. can i go back to dfa tom to have it reprinted? Is there addditional charge? I was able to recover the lbc receipt for delivery.

    • Hi, since you selected LBC service, your passport will be delivered to you in the address you provided LBC. You wont need DFA receipt when it arrived, instead you can show valid IDs

    • It depends on the type of process you selected (rush or regular processing). Rush is 7 working days while regular is 10 working days

    • Hi Emmy. If you applied for appointment, the schedule you’ll get I’m sure will be after Feb. so that means he’s 18 by that time already. Medyo matagal talaga pag may appointment kasi madami applicants pero kelangan sundin yung schedule

    • She can try to show valid IDs when claiming and explanation regarding the loss. Your husband can apply for replacement of lost passport. The requirements are the same plus notarized Affidavit of Loss

    • If the parent is not there, you need DSWD Clearance, Affidavit of Support and Consent from the parent indicating the traveling companion and relationship to the minor, and other docs required if applicant is a minor (complete list are at the back of the application form)

    • TIN ID is not usually accepted coz it only shows TIN and name. Try to submit more supporting docs like NBI clearance and police clearance, they can help your application

    Just want to ask on renewal of passport. I had my passport before and it was expired more than 10 years ago..am still single at that time so my maiden name was registered there. My problem is I lost my passport and I cannot remember the exact date or year it was processed and expired.     • If you’re married, you must provide there your married last name. If they need your maiden name, may note naman pag needed yon.

    • No, NBI and Police clearance are required only when your documents are incomplete or you have no valid IDs. If the DFA staff is satisfied with the docs you presented, then you’re good

    • The 7 day-rush is true however there are some instances and special cases when delays happen. The DFA will always remind you anyway. It is always best to use the new passport if you already renewed to avoid immigration problems

    • You need to provide more supporting documents like NBI Clearance and college yearbook since you don’t have primary IDs. If you’re married, you also need to submit NSO Marriage Certificate

    • If the DFA office is open on Saturday, yes. Go to the releasing section and present your claiming receipt and your valid IDs. Make sure though you will go on on or after the date of release

    • It depends if the DFA staff will be satisfied with your proof of identity (documents). Your appointment in DFA Aseana can only be used in DFA Aseana.

    • Valid IDs and prepare to explain about the lost. I’m not sure if they require affidavit of loss because it’s just a receipt and they will see your IDs and passport anyway to identify it’s really you

    • I read on the DFA website that they dispose unclaimed docs after 6 months. Hurry! Try nyo claim ulit sa DFA where you applied

Somebody says na super delay kht na rush na and they’re trying to contact the sm megamall but nobodys answer the call, dinadrop pa nila call and worst pinadeliver po pero ssbhn nila ready for pickup. What the heck they are?   72. Hi! I would like to know if we can have one of our family members authorized to pick up our passports in DFA Manila. My husband and I had applied couple weeks ago (Nov.20th) for our passport renewal in Philippine Consulate here in Vancouver, Canada. I’m worried that we might have to rebook our flights if our passports don’t get here prior to the date of ou departure. We have bought our plane tickets for January 7th and didn’t realize that our passports are both expired till a week after we’ve made the purchase. Is there any way we can have someone to pick it up on DFA Manila and have it mailed to us? Will it be faster that way? Thank you very much for taking time to read my concern.     • I think you can authorize someone to receive your passport on your behalf. Just make sure they have the authorization letter, copy of your valid IDs, their valid IDs and your DFA receipt when claiming. Also make sure you have requested DFA Vancouver they deliver them in DFA in Manila. I just wonder if they would allow you travel if your don’t have at least 6 months validity in your passport

  73. Good PM! We are planning to apply for passport for our 3 kids plus renewal of me and my husband’s passport..one of the requirement is Certificate of Marriage. Do we need to provide one copy of the original Marriage contract per kid and for me and my husband? or we can present at least 2 copies of original for all of us ..I already sent a Family application form and was scheduled on Dec. 20.

    Should we also provide affidavit of explanation for non-schooling of our children though obviously, they are not yet in schooling age?

    • Yes you can po. Basta may married certificate. Pero you are free to choose either you want to use your married name or your single name po.

    • Birth place is one important detail in the NSO Birth Certificate. You need to fix it because you will lack identity info forever if you don’t

    • If you are schedeuled to pick it up at the DFA on a given date, you can pick it up. If you paid for delivery service like LBC, I don’t know if picking up is possible

  88. Hi po. Nov 6 ako nag renew ng passport ng kids ko. Ang sinabi na release date ay between 17 to 21. Pero sa lbs receipt ay nov17. Kasi may flight po kami sana ng nov15. Naka booked na ang tickets namin. Ok lang naman na I rebook ulit Pero dapat ay till nov18 lang dahil yung lang ang avaliable time ng dad nila to leave from work. What will I do po.     • If LBC told you it’s Nov. 17, it might be on that day or the next day. I suggest you contact LBC so they know it’s a very urgent matter.

    • Go on the scheduled date of the release and bring valid IDs. Explain the DFA staff you lost your receipt. You need to show some IDs for proof you were the passport-holder.

    • If you’re married, you need NSO Marriage certificate. You may not need to bring other IDs if they are satisfied with your PRC license in terms of your personal info on the ID and on your documents. To be sure, bring your supporting docs like NBI and Police clearance.

    • If you have chosen the delivery method, you must have provided the address where they will deliver your passport. If you have forgotten what you put on the form of delivery, just try to remember it. It’s either home address or office address.

I have gone to an agency of NSO here in SM, and they said, I don’t need any documents of my birth certificate, cause my passport’s expiration date

    • Unfortunately, we follow the release date given to us. If you want, you can make a request at the DFA if you need it badly

    • Postal ID is not an acceptable primary ID. If you’re married, you need NSO BC, NSO MC, valid IDs. If no Valid IDs, you can bring supporting docs like NBI, Police clearance, old school ID. SSS E1 is not an ID. You need to bring all original and photocopy of all your documents. You can be approved if your personal info in the documents you presented are all consistent and similar. Your NBI and Police clearance must not be expired

      • Para po sa pag pa change status (from single) nang married na babae, kailangan bang yung primary ID ay updated na rin? (using surname of spouse?) ano po ba ang option kung walang available. Thanks.

        • Yes, all IDs must have same info and they must tally. You need to submit NSO Marriage certificate and valid IDs bearing your married name

  110. depende po sa agent ng DFA na titingin sa mga requirements mo merinessa sa DFA RCO LA UNION po ayaw nila ng postal id lang dapat meron ka din ibang ID’s like drivers license BIR iD or voters pero kung iisa na id lng po lalo na kung postal id pa mejo may kahirapan po yung pag approved ng passport application mo. tingan mo na lang yung iba pa na req. sa likod ng application form. sana makakuha ka na din 🙂 good luck

    • I think you’ll be ok if your NBI and Police clearance are not expired and all your IDs and documents have the same info (spelling, signature) about you. You also need NSO marriage certificate if you are married

        • Since you’re married, your IDs must also be using your new surname if you want to use your married status. You also need to submit NSO Marriage certificate

I’d like to know as early as possible what I’ll need to do to claim my passport once it’s available for release. What’s the best number/department for the DFA to call?

    • If you know the date and time of release, I think you can still claim it, just explain though that you lost the stub and prepare for proof of identification. There is no phone number at their website. If you have claimed it successfully, tell us here if they accept IDs. 🙂 Thank you

  118. Hi. My mother has an NSO Birth Certificate, Marriage Contract and Baptismal Certificate and a Voter’s ID. She has no government ID’s because she is not currently employed. Would that be fine in her passport application?

    • Voter’s ID is accepted. I think your mom will be fine just make sure her documents have same info about her. Photocopy all her documents. She also needs to submit original copies of NSO BC and NSO MC if she is a first-time passport applicant

    • I suggest you go to your Municipal Local Civil Registrar office and start the update or adjustment of your birth certificate there.

  121. hello po. taga la union po kami. dahil 45 days ang processing dto sa amin my son and my nephew came to dfa megamall to apply for a new passport at renewal respectively noong august 8 because they both need their passorts this august. their release date is aug 18 and paid an additional amount for delivery. i wonder if you could advise us if we could pick it up there as LBC here, the official courier advisPied us to ask dfa instead. we are very anxious on the real status of their passports.

    • If you paid for delivery service via LBC, LBC will deliver the passport at your doorstep, no need to pick them up at LBC. Just wait at home. Assuming you listed the correct address of your home/residential address. Also, if you’re not home, advise whoever might receive them. Tell your family members you are expecting passport delivery anytime soon

    • Yes you’re ok with those requirements for renewal. Make sure you have photocopy of your old passport + requirements. if you’re female and married, you need NSO MC

    • Tell the DFA Davao what happened, they will probably tell your mom to apply for new passport due to loss passport and she will need to submit requirements according to DFA instruction

    • There is a delay going on right now so that 45 days release must be true. There is no certain announcement when the delay will stop and the normal releasing will be back

The Megamall DFA gives out a Passport Slip after going through the renewal process, tapos they stapled a little note about Passporting Steps where you will find in the bottom a mobile number for “text only” inquiry/concerns/passport release dates, pero walang sumasagot, i can assume maraming nakapila kaya mabagal reply, any idea where else i can call to check if my passport is ready for pick-up?

    • I guess there is no employee who’s real job to reply for those inquiries so we must not expect for reply. The release date is on the receipt anyway.

    • You need your old passport in renewing one. If you lost it, you need police report and notarized affidavit of the loss passport

    • You can still claim it, make sure though it’s not so far away on the releasing date coz DFA dispose stuff after 6 months according to their site

    • Please see the requirements checklist in the article. If you don’t have primary ID, submit supporting docs. Bring your NBI and Police Clearance and make sure they’re valid. The DFA will be the one who will tell you if you’re approved or not. If you’re married, you also need NSO Marriage Certificate

    • SSS E1 is not an ID. Sounds like you are a student. I recommend you bring all the docs you have mentioned and make sure they are valid (not expired) and has similar info about you

    I’m from Mindanao po tapos yung processing po doon sa CDO dfa, it takes a month po bago marelease. tapos need ko na po tlaga magkapassport dahil magstustudy pa po ako sa ibang bansa. as of now, may rush processing po ba o yung 7days processing sa manila?

    • I think you would be fine just make sure your NBI is valid and company ID has same info with your documents. Also bring another supporting docs like Baptismal, yearbook coz company ID is not certain to be acceptable ID

    • I suggest you renew your primary IDs first before you apply for passport because the DFA wants all documents and IDs to have similar and consistent info. If anything is different (ie: signature or birth date) you might have some problems. Since you’re married now, you must use your new surname on your IDs too

      • Maam ask ko lng po if pede kya ung voters id copry n gling sa munisipyo kc d po wala p ung voters id ko.tsaka police clearance as primary id?wala po kc akong valid id.renewal po ako then change stat.

        • Bring old passport, NSO BC and supporting docs. Since new status ka, bring also NSO MC. Make sure your supporting docs use your new married surname

Fehl, hi my Wife, who is a Filipina citizen is having a difficult time getting her Passport and we don’t know on what primary id which will take less than the time we want and pay alot of money. This is what she has as documents: NBI (green paper w/ picture), NSO birth cert, Postal Id, BIR id ( no picture). We are getting news these documents aren’t enough for her to get her Passport. She doesn’t have a employment nor a drivers license. What other ids are acceptable she can get in which the DFA will accept if she has no Primary picture id or a fast and low fee for a picture id which is acceptable for her to get her Passport. thanks, Andrew

    • Let her bring her college yearbook, that would help a lot and also Baptismal certificate. Postal ID and TIN ID are not acceptable ID. DFA needs documents showing proof of the applicant’s name, birth date, address, parents etc. to prove identity. Make sure all the docs you bring have similar info especially birth date, spellings, and signatures

      • She has a Baptismal cert of our Daughter, a BIR id, Postal id, NBI (with picture) and her NSO Marriage cert (her married name), and lastly a NSO birth Cert. This is all she has to provide as docs. What other docs she can get if she not work or attended college or finished school? Does the DFA keep your docs or do they keep copys and return your original docs? We picked up her NSO birth cert and we don’t want to have to purchase and wait for another NSO birth cert because i have heard the DFA takes and keeps your NSO birth cert.

        • If you need more supporting doc, let her bring a yearbook from Highschool or college if needed. Yes the DFA will get the original NSO BC and MC for first time applicants.

          • And they will return it right? once they send the passport? Because I kinda got worried when I got home from processing my passport for 1st time, I thought nhulog or na missplace ko, I realize hindi pala nila binalik sa akin.

          • Do they return your NSO birth cert and Marriage NSO cert docs back when your passport is delivered or do they keep your docs? My Wife had to wait two weeks or more to get these docs and she plans on copying her docs to give to the DFA to keep not her originals or she will need to go to the NSO office AGAIN and purchase these docs AGAIN for her u.s visa. sigh :/

          • For first time applicants DFA will keep the original copies of NSO Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate as their reference

    • TIN and Philhealth are not acceptable primary IDs. Bring more supporting documents like yearbook, Baptismal, or if you have Voter’s ID and Driver’se License (not expired) it would help

    • I didn’t experienced yet getting one in Manila. I guess it’s a little bit faster since the head office is there so delivery is faster maybe a day or 2 compared to provinces and some parts of the Philippines.

    • There is an appointment for Family applicants or group of applicants. But if your son already had one, you better use the date if you’re in a rush. If you’re not in a rush, you can make a new appointment for both your son and daughter. Old appointment then of your son will be disregard

    • Make sure your NBI Clearance and Police Clearance are not expired and make sure your info are all similar from the documents you mentioned. Photocopy them and bring original. Go to DFA and I hope they will be accepted

    • Make sure your supporting docs like NBI Clearance and Police Clearance are not expired. Also make sure your info from the docs you bring are all consistent. Bring your yearbook, that will help too

    • Rush 7 working days as of now. But for some circumstances, it might be longer. If they told you the date, then expect your passport within that date. We have no choice but to follow the DFA

    • TIN ID and Postal ID are not considered primary IDs. For those who don’t have enough valid IDs, the DFA always tell the applicants to bring more supporting docs like yearbook, NBI clearance etc. Check the list at the back of the application form 🙂

    • Yup SSS or UMID card is acceptable primary ID be sure though the info on your docs and IDs are all consistent including the signature

    • Hello. Yes but you need to set an appointment online before you go to the DFA Megamall. Requirements for minor applicants assuming you’re married:

      -Personal appearance of the minor applicant
      -Personal appearance of either parent (if minor is a legitimate child) / of mother (if minor is an illegitimate child)
      -Original Birth Certificate of minor in Security Paper issued by NSO or Certified True Copy of Birth Certificate issued by the Local Civil Registrar and duly authenticated by NSO. Transcribed Birth Certificate from the LCR is required when entries in NSO Birth Certificate are blurred or unreadable. Report of Birth duly authenticated by NSO is required if minor was born abroad.
      -Document of identity with photo, if minor is 8-17 years old (for first time and renewal applicant) such as School ID or Form 137 with readable dry seal

      -For minor applicants who never attended school, a Notarized Affidavit of Explanation executed by either parent (if minor is a legitimate child) / by mother (if minor is an illegitimate child) detailing the reasons why the child is not in school, is required

      -Marriage Certificate of minor’s parents duly authenticated by NSO
      -Notarized Affidavit of Support and Consent to travel from either parent (if minor is a legitimate child) / from mother (if minor is an illegitimate child)
      -Original and photocopy of valid passport of the person traveling with the minor
      -Photocopy of valid passport of either parent (if minor is a legitimate child) / of mother (if minor is an illegitimate child) or identification documents (Please refer to List of Acceptable IDs)

        • Yup, you can apply for passport same day. Make sure you and your child bring the requirements. You need to submit valid IDs bearing your new surname (married name) and NSO BC + NSO Marriage Certificate

          • Very unlucky. My mother went to DFA Iloilo they never accept supporting documents still looking for valid ID. Kahit ilang beses na pabalik balik ang nanay ko nakikisuyo. The voters ID still in Manila the commelec in our town not sure also kung kailan ma deliver.Pagsabihan pa naman sya ng officer ” wala ka bang kasama? D mo binasa ang mga list of requirements” too bad.

      • Yes you can renew it even if it’s been expired 10 years or more as long as it’s a Philippine passport. My dad’s passport was expired 15 years ago and he renewed it only last year. Same procedure is done to the processing. Just bring your old passport and 2 valid acceptable IDs, your NSO birth certificate and photocopied of the docs mentioned. Photocopy your old passport include also the last page with signature. If you will renew in Megamall, you need appointment
